Ukraine’s EU integration is taking place at a time when the European Union is shaping a new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and defining its future budget priorities. In this process, the way Ukraine is perceived in EU Member States—as a partner or a competitor in the agricultural sector—plays an important role.
At the same time, European stakeholders often have limited or fragmented knowledge of the Ukrainian agricultural sector, its level of alignment with EU legislation, and the potential implications of Ukraine’s integration. This creates information gaps and may influence support for the EU enlargement process.
The project aims to address these information gaps and foster dialogue between Ukrainian and European stakeholders. It focuses on the organic sector as one of the sectors most closely aligned with EU standards and, at the same time, influential in shaping agricultural policy.
Project objectives
- to contribute to a shared understanding of the benefits and challenges of Ukraine’s accession to the European Union;
- to strengthen dialogue between Ukrainian and European stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
Within the project, we will:
- conduct research on perceptions of the Ukrainian agricultural and organic sectors in EU countries through surveys and expert interviews;
- identify key information gaps and the information needs of European partners;
- facilitate dialogue with European stakeholders, including through participation in international events and professional networks;
- disseminate information about the Ukrainian agricultural and organic sectors among European audiences;
- prepare analytical and policy-oriented materials for Ukrainian stakeholders and negotiation teams.
Expected project results
- improved understanding of the Ukrainian agricultural sector among European partners;
- reduced information gaps and distorted narratives about Ukraine;
- stronger representation of the Ukrainian perspective in European discussions;
- enhanced analytical support for the EU accession negotiation process;
- strengthened cooperation between Ukrainian and European organisations.
