Carpathian bees and bears must be equally protected on all sides of the borders between neighbouring countries. As should all of the unique Carpathian nature. This is exactly what the Carpathian Convention, which unites seven neighbouring countries including Ukraine, is concerned with.
People who diligently work in challenging mountain conditions and preserve natural and cultural traditions should have well-being and equal rights and responsibilities, regardless of the borders between countries. This is the essence of the EU enlargement process and Ukraine’s integration into the European community.
Our “Eurointegration of Ukraine: Carpathian Farmers on the Path to Sustainable Development” discussion platform brought together representatives of Ukrainian ministries responsible for euro integration processes in the fields of environment, climate, and agriculture and of the Directorate-General of the European Commission for Agriculture and Rural Development.
At times, their vision of the tasks and opportunities for Ukraine on the euro integration path does not fully align. However, no one claims that this path is easy or that the negotiation process will take place without challenges, especially at the intersection of complex agricultural and environmental tasks.
To assist small farmers in adapting to EU rules, international and domestic programs and experts are at work. They provided participants in the discussion with detailed information about opportunities that small farmers, not only from the Carpathian region but from all over Ukraine, can already take advantage of.
Meanwhile, we continue to work towards preserving the Carpathian natural and cultural heritage, promoting the Carpathian traditions on a global level, and hoping for Ukraine’s swift accession to the EU, particularly thanks to the Carpathian Convention.
