We appeal to the world environmental community!
The aggressive attacks of occupants lead not only to numerous casualties of civilian and defenders of Ukraine, the destruction of civilian infrastructure, but also to dire consequences for the environment.
The whole world remembers the Chernobyl accident in 1986. On February 25, the aggressor’s troops seized the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and the Shelter facility, which is the highest level of danger and contains nuclear fuel residues. There are 4 more operating NPPs in Ukraine, which are currently under the control of Ukraine, but the aggressor threatens them, in particular, the Zaporizhzhya NPP.
Today, February 27, the aggressor’s troops began shelling gas pipelines, oil depots and other dangerous objects.
It is difficult to predict the consequences of hostilities on the rivers, soils, air, etc.
We know that the option of capturing any nuclear facility by terrorists has always been tested at international security drills. The world’s special services have repeatedly trained in this case. It is time to apply the skills gained in these training. Every minute that foreign terrorists are near the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and its facilities is a risk of a second accident, even greater than the one in the last century. Every second may be the last in the history of some European countries, because their territory will become uninhabitable. It is time to act.
We call on the environmental community to speak out against the aggressor’s actions!
The environment has no borders!
